that will be held on site at the Games. Come join us!

OK, so maybe you are one of those gym owners who finds watching CrossFit competitions boring. And maybe Madison, WI isn’t the sexiest place to vacation. But if you’re a gym owner, you should know that it’s more than worth it to make a trip to the CrossFit games for multiple reasons.

But if you’re a gym owner, you should know that it’s more than worth it to make a trip to the CrossFit games for multiple reasons.

At least, that’s what affiliate owners who go year-after-year tell us.

The Number One Reason: Your Business Will Reap All Kinds of Benefits

Traie Roberson Miles is one of these gym owners. As the owner of Rushmore CrossFit in Rapid City, South Dakota—a HybridAF Affiliate —this will be her fifth year going to the CrossFit Games.  Part of the reason she heads to the Games each year is because of the connections she forms, she explained.

“I have met and made connections with other owners and CFHQ staff…I was also fortunate enough to win a year of affiliate fees at the affiliate raffle in 2021,” she said.

David Timm, the owner of CrossFit Credence in Rochester, Minnesota and another HybridAF Affiliate, also heads to Madison every year, and said it’s a great opportunity to learn from others about ways to improve his business.

“The biggest benefit is meeting people (other gym owners) and seeing what things there are to offer our clients,” he said.

Bottom Line:

The opportunities to form connections with other gym owners and industry experts, learn and share business ideas, and build mutually beneficial business relationships, are endless during the week of the Games. And all of this, of course, has the possibility of leading to a more successful business (and you can expense the trip).

“Madison is a time to connect with other gym owners and network,” explained HybridAF owner Phil Tabor. This is especially important in today’s world, where many gym owners are looking to make business changes, he explained.

“There are a lot of affiliate owners doing really great stuff as we see a shift from the traditional CrossFit gym model to a more open, hybrid model,” Tabor said. And learning how to implement these changes—almost by getting free mentorship—couldn’t be easier than doing it in-person in Madison.

CrossFit APN: On a similar note, the HybridAF team will be on hand for the second straight year as part of the CrossFit APN (Affiliate Partner Network) and will be available to gym owners looking to learn more about adding unattended access at their gyms, ultimately to expand their business potential.

More Tips…

Where to Stay: If you’re looking to save money on accommodations, there’s an RV campground onsite at the Games, which Roberson said “makes the experience so much better.”

Where to Eat: Three must try places include State Street Brats, Short Stack Eatery and Rare Steakhouse for the best steak and wine in the city.

Where to workout: While there are tons of local affiliates who open their doors to visitors during the Games, there’s also a mock affiliate on site that is offering classes to affiliate owners, which makes it easy to get a workout in, especially if you’re not renting a car. The HybridAF crew will be there, as well.

Pro Tip from Roberson: Rent a bike (or bring one), as the town is super bike friendly “and you can get just about anywhere on them,” she said.

And, and, and…

Even if you think watching people workout for time gets boring, there’s no chance you won’t be inspired, motivated, excited to recommit yourself to your fitness after being around the fittest people in the world all week. Just saying.
