Reflects on how HybridAF Can Help a Gym Owner in Today’s Climate

When Zac Zuspann opened his gym 12 years ago, the climate in the industry was a whole lot different than it is today.

“In 2010, you could have an old barn filled with rusty equipment and be successful. You could have hobby coaches who coached one to two times a week before or after their full-time job,” said Zuspann, a CrossFit LLC affiliate rep who runs two gyms out of Oklahoma City, CrossFit Complete and CrossFit Complete West. Such is not the case anymore.

Successful gyms are far more professional and thorough with their processes compared to when I started. Now, gyms have to be on point with their facility, equipment, professional staff and overall business processes to be relevant and successful,” he explained.

Along with these added expectations and responsibilities today, compared to a decade ago, comes the potential for a whole lot more work for the small gym owner.

THAT’S WHERE

COMES IN

HybridAF’s 24/7 service helps the often overworked gym owner and their coaches from overworking themselves and burning out, and provides more options and added value for the client, explained Zuspann, adding that it’s something a do it yourself approach to having a 24/7 facility wouldn’t be able to provide.

“It is completely hands off, responsibility-free for me as an owner, which is important. Time, effort, and attention are everything. These are finite resources and I want to pour them into the right places. Hybrid keeps the logistics of 24-hour access 100 percent off my mind,” he said.

Zuspann added: “And the service provides a very easy and user-friendly option for my members who wish to train outside of normal gym times…We always have members that have that extra itch to train more and this provides a simple and easy solution for those members and myself.”

Further, becoming a HybridAF client has increased his ability to take time off during holidays, something foreign to many a burnt out gym owner. “This allows myself and my staff to enjoy more down time and compression knowing the members who feel the need to train on Christmas Day have that option,” he said, adding that the way he uses HybridAF means his open gym membership options have also become an additional REVENUE STREAM
for the business.

THE BOTTOM LINE

In today’s 2022 gym environment—in a climate where members expect much more value and professionalism than they did 12 years ago—HybridAF goes a long way in adding value, all the while making gym ownership manageable, and even more profitable.

“It’s a simple way to increase value and accommodate hard working members. It’s a hands off source of revenue, and provides an ability to leverage revenue from those who may not want to do classes,” he said.
